Google has introduced a new short-term course aimed at helping people understand and use artificial intelligence more confidently in their daily work. The company’s latest offering, the Google AI Professional Certificate, is designed to make practical AI learning simple, fast, and accessible.

The programme is available on Coursera and can be completed in roughly 10 hours. It includes seven short courses followed by a hands-on capstone project, allowing learners to apply what they have learned and build a portfolio that reflects real skills rather than just theory.

Instead of focusing on complex technical concepts, the course centres on everyday applications of AI. Participants learn how to use AI tools for research, brainstorming, planning, writing, content creation, data analysis, and workflow automation. More than 20 practical activities guide learners through real-world scenarios, and importantly, no coding knowledge is required.

Lisa Gevelber, Founder of Grow with Google, said the goal is to turn AI knowledge into real economic value. She explained that the certificate is meant to help workers and businesses adapt more quickly to changing workplace demands, while also supporting universities and employers looking to strengthen AI capabilities within their teams.

Those who enrol will receive three months of complimentary access to Google AI Pro. This gives learners the opportunity to explore advanced tools such as Gemini, NotebookLM, Gemini Canvas, and AI-powered features integrated into Google Workspace.

The core modules cover AI fundamentals, idea development, research methods, professional communication, content production, and data insights. The course also introduces ways to streamline tasks through automation and structured workflows.

With enrolment now open, Google is presenting the certificate as a flexible upskilling option for professionals who want to stay competitive in an increasingly AI-focused job market without committing to long-term study.
