Slack has introduced Slack Code, a new feature that brings AI coding agents directly into dedicated code channels, allowing development teams to collaborate with AI inside their existing workspace.

The feature is designed to shift AI-assisted coding from individual interactions to a shared team environment. Developers can create project-specific code channels where teammates can monitor an AI agent’s progress, review code changes, provide feedback and access live previews.

According to Slack, code channels can also be created automatically when someone tags a coding agent in an existing conversation. Once the work is completed, the channel can be archived while keeping its conversation and activity history as an audit record.

Slack Code works with several major AI coding platforms, including Anthropic’s Claude, Cognition’s Devin, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Vercel’s agents. These agents can operate within the team’s Slack context rather than working in isolation.

Teams can view an agent’s conversation, development plan, code differences and live previews. Members can also guide the agent by giving feedback, pausing its work, changing its direction or stopping it entirely. For sensitive tasks, such as deploying code to production, Slack said expert approval is required within the channel.

Alongside Slack Code, the company is introducing a new Agents tab, which lets users discover available agents, monitor their sessions and status, and stop agents while they are working. Slack’s Add to Slack capability also supports agents from platforms such as Lovable, n8n, Vercel, OpenAI and LangChain.

Analyst Rebecca Wettemann of Valoir said AI needs to move beyond individual productivity improvements and become part of broader business operations. She described Slack Code as a way to bring contextual AI orchestration into everyday team workflows.

Slack said Slack Code is available across all Slack plans, but users must separately have access to the supported third-party coding agents. The company noted that pricing, packaging and availability may vary depending on the customer and region.
