Swiggy is taking a fresh step in its AI journey. The company has launched Builders Club, a new programme aimed at developers, startups, and enterprises looking to build on top of its platform.
The move signals a shift in direction. Instead of working as a closed system, Swiggy is now opening its doors to outside builders who want to create real-world, AI-powered commerce experiences.
This comes soon after Swiggy rolled out its MCP framework, which gave access to its core infrastructure. Builders Club builds on that by adding an ecosystem layer—bringing in developers, defining how they can engage, and helping strong ideas grow into deeper partnerships.
Under the programme, selected participants will get access to three MCP servers and more than 18 APIs across Swiggy’s services, including food delivery, grocery shopping, and dining. The goal is simple: enable developers to create AI tools that don’t just suggest actions but actually carry them out—like ordering food or booking a table.
The system runs on Amazon Web Services infrastructure, using Amazon Bedrock to connect with models from Anthropic, Meta, and Mistral AI. It also uses AWS Trainium chips for efficiency and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore to support AI agents.
Swiggy’s CTO, Madhusudhan Rao, said the company is evolving beyond just being a platform. The idea now is to become a foundation where AI-driven commerce solutions can be built and scaled by others.
Builders Club will follow an application-based model. Developers and companies will need to apply, go through a review process, and showcase what they build. The invite-led approach is meant to keep the quality high while building momentum gradually.
Those selected will get more than just technical access. Swiggy is offering engineering support, higher API limits, co-branding opportunities, and the chance to scale successful use cases through partnerships.
Sandeep Dutta, President of AWS India and South Asia, said the initiative reflects how AI is shaping the next phase of commerce. With AWS backing the infrastructure, he noted, builders can experiment and scale without major barriers.
For Swiggy, the direction is clear. It is not just building services anymore—it is trying to create an ecosystem where others can build alongside it.
