Scribe Secures $75 Million to Expand Workflow Intelligence Platform

After assisting numerous enterprises in understanding how their work is actually carried out, Scribe has secured $75 million in Series C funding at a $1.3 billion post-money valuation. The investment will support the launch of Scribe Optimize, a new platform designed to map workflows across organizations and pinpoint where automation and AI can drive real value instead of becoming wasted investments.

The all-equity round was led by StepStone, with continued support from Amplify Partners, Redpoint Ventures, Tiger Global, Morado Ventures, and New York Life Ventures. This latest funding arrives a little over a year after Scribe’s $25 million Series B, most of which remains unused, according to co-founder and CEO Jennifer Smith. With the new capital, Scribe aims to accelerate the release of Scribe Optimize and related solutions, helping companies determine where AI and automation can have the greatest effect.

While many businesses are eager to integrate AI, Smith said most still struggle with a critical question: What should be automated first? Organizations often try to figure this out through interviews, workshops, or consultants — approaches that take months and still overlook much of employees’ actual day-to-day activities.

“Without a clear picture of how work gets done, it’s nearly impossible to identify what can be improved, automated, or supported by AI agents,” Smith explained. “Scribe Optimize was built to answer exactly that. It analyzes workflows across an organization, then presents a single dashboard showing what tasks are being done, how often, and how long they take.”

Growth, Product Expansion, and Global Reach

Founded in 2019 by Jennifer Smith and Aaron Podolny (CTO), Scribe started before the current AI wave. Its flagship tool, Scribe Capture, automatically records how work is performed. When a user completes a task, the software generates a step-by-step guide using a browser extension or desktop app — complete with text and screenshots. These guides can then be shared internally to streamline training, minimize mistakes, and reduce repetitive questions.

Scribe claims that customers using Scribe Capture save between 35 and 42 hours per person per month, and onboard new employees 40% faster.

The process documentation space includes competitors such as Tango, Iorad, UserGuiding, and Spekit. Still, Smith said the company’s biggest competition is the old-fashioned approach of manually recording workflows.

“People are literally still sitting behind employees with stopwatches to map out how processes work,” Smith noted. “Even when deploying AI agents today, the irony is that the setup process remains highly manual.”

So far, Scribe has documented over 10 million workflows across 40,000 software applications. The company says it has more than 5 million users, including teams in 94% of Fortune 500 firms, and counts 78,000 organizations as paying customers. Notable users include teams at New York Life, T-Mobile, LinkedIn, HubSpot, and Northern Trust.

“People adopt Scribe because they want to, not because management tells them to,” Smith said. “It starts with individual users, then spreads to team leaders, departments, and eventually to central operations functions that all want to scale their knowledge and improve efficiency.”

Headquartered in San Francisco, Scribe lists the U.K., Canada, Australia, and Europe as its largest international markets outside the U.S.

The company reports that its revenue more than doubled over the past year, though it did not share exact figures. Scribe also stated that its valuation has increased fivefold since its last round. The startup currently employs 120 people and plans to double its workforce within the next year, according to Smith.
