Razorpay has signed on as the Indian payments partner for Replit, integrating its payment infrastructure directly into the AI coding platform to support local subscriptions and in-app monetisation.

Indian users will now be able to pay for Replit in rupees using UPI and cards. Developers building applications on Replit will also be able to accept UPI and card payments inside the products they create.

The arrangement removes a major operational hurdle for Replit. Razorpay will take care of compliance requirements, foreign exchange handling and USD settlements. This means Replit can serve Indian users without setting up a separate legal entity in the country.

Embedding Payments Directly Into the Development Process

Replit is introducing Razorpay’s International Payments Suite in beta. The system converts cross-border subscriptions into a local checkout experience for Indian customers. At the same time, Razorpay’s payment tools will be embedded into Replit’s development flow, allowing payment integration to happen while the app is being built.

India’s payments ecosystem plays a central role in the partnership. The country processes more than 20 billion UPI transactions every month, and UPI accounts for roughly 85% of digital payments. Card transactions also run into the billions. For developers, this means applications created through AI tools can begin accepting widely used payment methods from the start.

In practice, a builder could prompt Replit to generate an app — for example, a budgeting assistant — and have Razorpay’s monetisation layer added during development. Once the app goes live, it can start collecting payments from Indian users without additional integration work.

Harshil Mathur, CEO and Co-Founder of Razorpay, said AI is changing how products are built in India, but many developers still struggle with monetisation. Embedding payments directly into the creation process, he noted, allows builders to launch revenue-ready products more quickly while staying compliant.

Amjad Masad, Founder and CEO of Replit, said India is now the company’s second-largest market by number of builders. He added that Indian developers are increasingly using Replit Agent to launch small digital businesses.

Masad said adapting to local market conditions is essential for growth in India and described Razorpay as a strong fit given its presence in the country’s payments landscape.

The partnership follows Razorpay’s recent collaborations with global AI firms, including work connected to agent-driven payment systems in India.
