Figma is adding a new set of AI integrations that aim to make it easier for designers and developers to work together. The update connects several coding tools directly with Figma’s design environment, allowing teams to move more smoothly between code and visual design.

The company said tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Warp, Factory, Augment Code, and Fireblender are now part of its expanding Figma MCP Server ecosystem. With these connections, interface code created by AI coding assistants can be turned into editable design layouts inside Figma. After designers make changes, those updates can be pushed back into code while keeping the structure intact.

The idea behind the update is to create a smoother workflow between design and development. Teams can experiment with ideas in code and then refine them visually inside Figma before sending them back into the development process.

Figma co-founder and CEO Dylan Field said the company is bringing more partners into the MCP ecosystem to better connect the design canvas with coding environments. He noted that as AI makes it easier for people to build software, the ability to clearly shape and communicate design ideas becomes even more important.

Through the MCP Server, developers can also access design assets without leaving their coding tools. This reduces the need for repeated hand-offs between designers and engineers and helps teams move faster when building digital products.

Figma explained that design files contain more than just visual layouts. They also include information about responsive structures, interaction details, and design system rules that developers can reference while building applications.

The new integrations expand on Figma’s earlier work with AI coding platforms, including OpenAI’s Codex and Anthropic’s Claude Code. At the moment, GitHub Copilot users can access the integration through Visual Studio Code, and support for Copilot CLI is expected later.

Figma said the MCP Server is available across all of its plans and is intended to support teams regardless of whether a project starts with code, design files, or AI-generated prompts.
