Canva Unveils Its Largest Product Update: The Creative Operating System

Canva has rolled out its biggest platform upgrade yet — the Creative Operating System — which unites a redesigned Visual Suite with new smart design tools and marketing features to help individuals and teams create faster while staying on brand.

The company calls this launch the start of the “Imagination Era,” a period where technology enhances creativity instead of replacing it. At the heart of this update is the revamped Visual Suite, now featuring major enhancements like Video 2.0, Canva Forms, tighter integration between Canva Sheets and Code, and a new Email Design feature built directly into the platform.

A highlight of the release is the Canva Design Model, a system built to understand design principles, branding, and layout so it can produce editable, high-quality designs. This model powers Canva’s new intelligent design tools and is also accessible through external platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.

Other innovations include Smart Designs that instantly generate editable templates, Smart Elements for creating visuals, icons, and 3D objects, and Ask Canva, a built-in assistant that provides creative suggestions on demand.

The update also debuts Canva Grow, a marketing workspace that brings together content creation, publishing, and performance tracking in one place. Alongside it comes a strengthened Brand System designed to keep branding consistent across large teams.

Additionally, Affinity, Canva’s professional-grade design suite, is now free for everyone and fully integrated into the Canva platform — a move expected to appeal to creators seeking a cost-effective alternative to Adobe Photoshop.

With these updates, Canva is positioning itself as a comprehensive creative ecosystem, merging design, marketing, and smart technology into one powerful platform.
