HCLTech has expanded its presence in India by opening a new Global Technology Center at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City). The new facility will focus on delivering AI-driven solutions for the company’s global financial services clients while supporting innovation and strengthening collaboration with academic institutions.
The center was inaugurated by Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and is expected to serve as a hub for developing advanced technology solutions and preparing a skilled workforce for the future. HCLTech said the center will play a key role in accelerating AI adoption across the financial services industry.
As part of the expansion, HCLTech has also signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar and Gujarat Technological University (GTU). The partnerships aim to promote research, innovation, and talent development in artificial intelligence.
Through these collaborations, students and faculty members will work on industry-focused AI research, software development, and digital transformation projects. The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry while equipping students with practical experience in emerging technologies.
Speaking at the inauguration, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi said HCLTech’s investment in GIFT City supports the state’s vision of creating more employment opportunities and helping local talent build global careers without leaving Gujarat. He noted that the new Global Technology Center and AI Lab would further strengthen GIFT City’s growing innovation ecosystem and reinforce its position as an emerging TechFin destination.
Sanghavi also highlighted that HCLTech’s expertise in building technology capabilities across different regions would contribute to Gujarat’s long-term growth as a business and technology hub.
HCLTech CEO and Managing Director C Vijayakumar said the company is excited to establish its operations in Gujarat and deliver innovative AI solutions for financial services clients worldwide. He added that HCLTech remains committed to supporting the state’s technology ecosystem and fostering stronger collaboration between industry and educational institutions to develop future-ready professionals.
The launch reflects GIFT City’s rising importance as a center for technology and financial services, with artificial intelligence becoming a major driver of growth for companies expanding their operations in the region.
