Infosys has partnered with U.S.-based healthcare provider Sentara to expand the use of artificial intelligence across the organization’s operations, adding another major AI transformation project to its growing portfolio.
Under the partnership, Infosys will help Sentara build a strong AI foundation across its enterprise using the company’s Infosys Topaz Fabric platform. The initiative will support AI deployment across IT systems, hospital operations, and clinical support services.
The collaboration is designed to help Sentara move beyond AI pilot programs and bring the technology into everyday operations at scale. The two organizations will explore AI applications in areas such as care management, workforce productivity, and patient-facing digital services.
In addition to identifying new use cases, the project will also establish governance and operational frameworks to ensure AI is deployed securely, responsibly, and in line with healthcare regulations.
Jamisson Fowler, Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer at Sentara, said the partnership supports the healthcare provider’s broader digital transformation efforts. He noted that a thoughtful and scalable AI strategy can help improve efficiency, strengthen care delivery, and better serve communities while maintaining patient trust and regulatory compliance.
The agreement comes at a time when Indian IT services firms are increasingly helping enterprises integrate AI into core business functions. Companies including Infosys, TCS, Wipro, and HCLTech have been securing large AI-focused engagements as organizations shift from experimentation to real-world implementation.
According to Venky Ananth, Executive Vice President and Global Head of Healthcare at Infosys, healthcare organizations have reached a stage where AI can deliver significant operational and clinical value when adopted responsibly and at scale.
Sentara operates 12 hospitals across Virginia and northeastern North Carolina, employs around 34,000 people, and serves more than one million health plan members across Virginia and Florida.
The companies have not revealed the financial terms of the partnership.
