OpenAI has rolled out a new $100-per-month Pro subscription, aiming to meet the growing demand for its Codex code-generation model among developers and businesses.
This newly introduced tier sits between the $20 Plus plan and the premium $200 Pro option. It offers users five times higher Codex usage compared to the standard Plus subscription, while still including all existing features such as access to advanced models and tools.
The company says this plan is designed to support longer and more complex coding sessions, especially for professionals who rely heavily on Codex in their workflows.
To encourage early users, OpenAI is offering a limited-time promotion until May 31. During this period, subscribers to the $100 plan will get up to 10 times the Codex usage available in the Plus plan, making it more appealing for those wanting to explore its full potential.
Meanwhile, the $200 Pro tier continues as the highest-level offering. Users on this plan will also benefit from a temporary boost, receiving double their usual Codex limits during the same promotional window. OpenAI has also reset rate limits for these users to ensure a smooth transition.
The company highlighted strong growth in Codex adoption, particularly in enterprise settings. Since January 2026, usage has increased sixfold. Currently, around 9 million businesses are paying users of the platform, with approximately 2 million developers using Codex every week.
Overall, OpenAI’s API infrastructure is handling more than 15 billion tokens per minute, while Codex itself has reached 3 million weekly active users.
In addition, OpenAI recently introduced a flexible option for teams using ChatGPT Business and Enterprise. These teams can now purchase Codex-only seats on a pay-as-you-go basis, allowing full access without committing to a fixed subscription. This approach is intended to help smaller teams test and scale usage gradually.
The company has also simplified Codex pricing. With Codex-only seats, there are no rate limits, and costs are calculated based on token usage, making it easier for organisations to manage spending.
At the same time, standard ChatGPT Business plans will continue to include Codex with certain limits. To improve affordability, OpenAI has reduced the annual price of these seats from $25 to $20.
