Anthropic has launched a new certification for developers working with its Claude AI models. The programme, called Claude Certified Architect (CCA-F), is meant to recognise professionals who know how to build real-world applications using Claude.
The certification comes as more companies begin adopting AI tools, creating a growing demand for developers who can design and manage reliable AI systems.
The programme is aimed at engineers, developers, and solution architects who build systems using tools from the Claude ecosystem. This includes the Claude API, Claude Code, the Agent SDK, and the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which developers use to create and manage AI-powered applications.
The certification exam includes 60 multiple-choice questions and must be completed within 120 minutes during a monitored session. Candidates are required to finish the exam in one sitting without external help. Anthropic says participants usually receive their results within two business days, along with a report that shows performance across different technical areas. Those who pass the exam receive a digital CCA-F badge, which can be shared on professional platforms such as LinkedIn.
Anthropic describes the certification as a 300-level technical exam, designed for practitioners who already have basic experience with Claude and want to demonstrate deeper practical knowledge.
The exam focuses on several important areas involved in building AI systems. These include agent-based architecture and orchestration, configuring workflows with Claude Code, prompt engineering and structured outputs, designing tools that integrate with MCP, and managing context and reliability in AI applications.
To reflect real-world development work, the exam uses scenario-based questions. Candidates are presented with four scenarios randomly selected from a pool of six enterprise-style use cases.
One example scenario involves building a customer support automation agent that can handle requests such as returns, billing disputes, and account-related issues while interacting with backend services like order lookup tools or refund systems. Another scenario focuses on developer productivity tools designed to help engineers navigate unfamiliar codebases, automate repetitive tasks, and generate basic code structures.
Anthropic suggests that candidates prepare by completing its training courses and gaining hands-on experience with Claude tools. Recommended courses include Claude 101, Building with the Claude API, Introduction to Model Context Protocol, and Claude Code in Action. The company also provides a practice exam and recommends scoring 900 out of 1,000 before attempting the official certification.
At present, the certification is available only to employees of companies that are part of the Claude Partner Network, Anthropic’s ecosystem of consulting firms and AI integrators that help businesses deploy Claude-based solutions.
During the early access phase, the exam will be free for the first 5,000 partner employees. After that, the certification will cost $99 per attempt.
The certification is part of Anthropic’s broader effort to strengthen its partner ecosystem and support enterprise adoption of Claude AI. The company recently launched the Claude Partner Network and announced a $100 million investment planned for 2026 to support partners through training programmes, technical support, and joint initiatives.
