OpenAI held a Nonprofit AI Jam in Bengaluru on January 15. The event brought together nonprofit organisations working in different areas of the social sector.

The Bengaluru workshop was part of a series of similar sessions planned across multiple cities. The focus was on how artificial intelligence can be used in day-to-day nonprofit operations.

Organisations working in education, public health, skilling, climate action, and gender inclusion attended the programme. Participants discussed issues they face while running projects, managing data, and delivering services.

During the sessions, attendees shared specific operational challenges from their work. They worked with technical experts to explore AI tools that could be adapted to their existing systems.

The discussions remained centred on practical use. The aim was to identify tools that could support ongoing work without adding complexity.

Participants will continue to stay connected after the workshop through shared learning material and group discussions.

The programme was organised with Karya, a social enterprise that creates ethical AI datasets and provides digital work opportunities to rural and economically disadvantaged communities. Wadhwani AI supported the workshop as a knowledge partner and shared its experience in using AI across healthcare, agriculture, and education.

The Bengaluru event was held ahead of the AI Impact Summit scheduled for February 19–20, 2026, in New Delhi. The summit will be hosted under the IndiaAI Mission by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and is expected to bring together policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, and innovators.
