OpenAI is expanding its affordable ChatGPT subscription plan beyond India, with a new launch in Indonesia. The company introduced the ChatGPT Go plan last month in India for under $5 and is now offering it to Indonesian users for Rp75,000 ($4.50) per month.
The ChatGPT Go plan offers a middle ground between OpenAI’s free plan and the premium $20/month ChatGPT Plus option. Subscribers benefit from significantly higher usage limits—10 times more than the free plan—allowing for more queries, image generation, and file uploads. Additionally, this plan improves the chatbot’s ability to remember past conversations, leading to more personalized responses over time, according to ChatGPT head Nick Turley.
Since its launch in India, the ChatGPT Go plan has seen a surge in paid subscriptions, more than doubling the number of users.
This expansion pits OpenAI directly against Google, which recently launched a similarly priced AI Plus plan in Indonesia. Google’s AI Plus plan provides access to its Gemini 2.5 Pro chatbot and creative tools for generating images and videos, such as Flow, Whisk, and Veo 3 Fast. It also offers advanced features for Google’s NotebookLM research assistant and integrations with Gmail, Docs, and Sheets, plus 200GB of cloud storage.
